The Via Francigena - 03 from Lucca to Altopascio (provincial border)
After visiting the historical centre, the pilgrim will first pass the Porta SanGervasIo and Protasio gate, and walk in the direction of Altopascio by thePorta Elisa gate.The route of this walk goes through a heavily built up area often full of traffic;we can avoid this by choosing alternative routes. For example south of the present route through Capannori with its court farmhouses and churches..Continuing due east we reach Porcari and to the south-east by the Abbey ofBadia a Pozzeveri soon reaching Altopascio, the last Municipality of theProvince of Lucca.The pilgrim may continue his walk towards the province of Pisa, in thedirection of San MIniato
